glitz and glamour
Last night Amber went out to a swanky Hollywood club. It was definitely the scene of beautiful people, expensive glasses of champaine and wines, and tables reserved only for the VIP guests that lingered, like Misca Barton and Bill Maher, and Matador from the pickup artist on VHI. Amber wore another of her funkiest outfits, and zig-zagged among the elite like a cat on the prowl. Her favorite girlfriend Katia was with her—dressed to impress with fitted spandex, and sheer shirt from her mum in Russia. The owner of the club treated them to a nice meal, with different courses of Lobster mushrooms, and goat cheese salads. It was the perfect night for girls…..but we had a guy with us.
Brian didn’t have the same kind of fun and felt left out watching the gals flip their hair and seduce the crowds with a look, or a wink. So Amber left early and after a mini fight in the parking lot over her space and freedom..they came home, and watched cop shows on television. Relationships are what everyone there is looking for, and sometimes when it’s right in your face it can be harder to see. The grass is always greener on the other side, or is it?
In a town like Los Angeles the family dynamic is often missing and we make our own families out of the bits and pieces of friendships we create among the glitz and glamour, and sometimes out of skid row. Humans are colorful, and intense at times. I would say that doggies are simple, but the truth is we aren’t either. I fight with the other dogs in my own home, but then curl up and sleep soundly at the end of the day, knowing Jillian and Sasha dog are there, and even knowing that the two strange fish, and cat we have.. are part of my family. We all have wreckage from our pasts and we all want better. In no way are the people who look and act better as white as snow, without their own imperfections. Isn’t it better to learn from our family and friends that God puts in our path? So much more can be seen through sobriety, and with these new pair of sober glasses that God granted Amber, the lessons are flowing. So swanky or not, the look inside…past the Armani suits, and Dolce dresses, and the Gucci bags, more will be revealed if we truly just look inside. It’s an inside job.
